Refining your dental materials can offer quite a generous return for dental labs, dental practices and even individuals. In order to get the most cash for dental scrap, its best practice to develop a routine consisting of scheduled collections, specific shipping dates and keeping records of inventory.

In many of our previous posts we’ve discussed quite a few tips for getting the highest returns for your dental materials; in this post we’ll focus on how to develop the best storage and shipping routines. Organizing efficient shipping and storage routines for your dental scrap can help increase your return, and simplify the refining process.

Best Dental Scrap Storage Practices:

The amount of time storing materials will vary depending on the volume and type of materials you collect on a regular basis. All materials should be kept locked up safely, dental scrap is not covered under insurance and in the case of theft you would not be reimbursed.
It’s best practice to always separate precious and non-precious metals. All materials should be separated into heavy-duty re-sealable bags. Vacuum bags should also be placed in re-sealable bags in order to safeguard the possibility of the bag breaking. Carpets should be cut into small pieces followed by putting the pieces into a re-sealable bag.

Once all materials are separated, add labels and store them into a locked cabinet until they’re ready to be shipped. If you already have the shipping containers, insert the labeled bags into the appropriate containers.
