| Can I send in jewelry? | Yes, you can. We do ask that you first go through your jewelry with a magnet to see if it is made of precious metals. Jewelry that is attracted to the magnet is typically made of non-precious metal or is plated which has no refined value. Although we specialize in dental scrap refining, we also accept jewelry made from precious metals. |
| Can I send in dental scrap where the teeth are still attached to the dental work? What about other objects mixed in such as dust or carpet threads? | Yes. At Cora Refining we use multiple methods of assaying and refining dental scrap. A common first step in our dental refining process is melting the scrap into a homogenous button. The surface is then cleaned and the button is assayed using x-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Within those processes any non-metal material is melted away during the process, leaving only dental metal behind. |
